The invention relates to a method for preparing an edible product of animal origin, comprising the steps of: a) crumbling or crushing pig skin to a size of between 2 and 4 mm; b) metering the crumbled product into previously heated moulds; c) subjecting the pig skin in the moulds to pressure for a certain period of time; d) retrieving the thus moulded chicharrón or pork rinds, and; e) placing the pork rinds in bags to be distributed and sold.

From the data provided above, it is clear that the food product of the invention, whose protection is requested, offers novel features both in its configuration and in its nutritional qualities and that even though it could be considered as a substitute for pork rinds currently in the market,
5 It is a clearly different product preserving to a large extent the qualities of a product of natural origin, free of additives and that derived from the procedure with which the pork steak or leather is processed is that it has achieved industrialization and putting in the market for an improved edible product, of natural origin and proven acceptance.
10 From the above, it is unquestionable that all of the stated objectives have been met, and considering that changes can be devised both in the proposed procedure and in the product obtained, it is intended that such changes be part of the invention whose protection is requested, provided that consider that these
